This season at Get Messy was a collaboration with the 30 Lists team. I was pretty jazzed when I heard about this mashup, because I’m a big time lister, and thought it would be so fun to bring a bit of that to my art journalling. But as I got started, I began to struggle. I was listing on shipping tags, which seemed like a really cool idea, but I just couldn’t make them look the way I wanted to. I was getting so frustrated with the crappy stuff I was making, and it was just no fun at all. So I made the somewhat drastic decision of ditching what I’d done so far and starting over. As soon as I did, everything started to flow. My new format was similar to my first idea, but more uniform in size, and more arty in feel. This was what I needed to balance to bring the two worlds of listing and art journalling together in a way that made sense to me. I cut white cardstock into 2.25×3.5 inch rectangles, splashed them all over with red, blue, purple, and yellow liquid watercolours, hole punched them, and got listing.
The result is a little book that I love the look and feel of, and a finished project I’m proud of. Wanna see? Here are just a few of my lists:
I used: Ecoline liquid watercolours in pastel blue, lemon yellow, violet and carmine || white cardstock || Copic multiliner 0.05 point.
